Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) Medical Examinations

It is OEUK policy (formerly OGUK) that all persons working offshore shall be examined periodically and classified as medically fit to work in the offshore environment.

Dr Brian McEllistrem is registered with OEUK as an Overseas Examining Doctor for medicals including Offshore Work Certificates and Certificates of Fitness to Participate in ERT (Emergency Response Team) Duties.

Generally an OEUK medical can be expected to last approximately 60 minutes if no additional testing nor information is required. Additional testing can be required under OEUK guidelines and/or can be medically required. Whilst we endeavor to book all appropriate tests for the time of the assessment, the need for further testing and/or information may only become apparent during the assessment.

The Chronic Disease Management (CDM) programme is not suitable nor intended for emergencies. The CDM programme is meant for patients with established diseases and conditions, which have been previously diagnosed and initial management commenced and/or completed, either at Mungret Medical Centre or elsewhere. General Practitioner Services

For GMS (Medical Card, DVC, Under 6's, Over 70's) and Private Patients of all ages. This covers a wide variety of general presentations, issues, and conditions, as well as gender-specific health issues.

Blood Tests (Phlebotomy)

Mungret Medical Centre has a full blood taking (phlebotomy) service. Generally, most blood tests do not require a fasting period beforehand. If, you do need to fast, please do not eat anything for 12 hours before your blood test, but you can drink water and take your medications as normal.

Vaccination (Immunisations)

Mungret Medical Centre (MMC) offers a range of Vaccination (Immunisations); flu vaccines, covid vaccines, childhood vaccines, pregnancy related vaccines, travel vaccines, chickenpox vaccines, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine.

Chronic Disease Management

The aim of Chronic Disease Management (CDM) is to make changes now to lessen the burden of diseases in the short term, and their effect on our patients' lives, but also to reduce the risk of significant adverse events occurring in future for certain conditions.

Cryosurgery (Cryotherapy)

Cryosurgery is the application of extremely low temperatures to destroy abnormal or diseased tissue and is used most commonly to treat skin conditions. Mungret Medical Centre has special facilities to store and use liquid nitrogen (-195.8 Celsius) for our cryosurgery services.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is when your blood pressure is measured as you move around, living your normal daily life. It is measured for up to 24 hours. A small digital blood pressure monitor is attached to a belt around your waist and connected to a cuff around your upper arm.

Antenatal (Pregnancy) Care

Sexual Health Screening

Mungret Medical Centre offers a discrete and sensitive Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screening service. STIs can be both symptomatic and asymptomatic (have no symptoms). Regular STI screening is recommended, particularly if you are having unprotected sexual contact with new partners.

Pre-Employment Medicals

Pre-Employment Medical assessments allow companies to have their potential employees reviewed in to order to ascertain their suitability for a specific role and any reasonable adaptations that might be required.

Independent Medical Reports

RenewableUK Medical Examinations (Wind Turbine Medical Examinations)

We offer fitness to work medicals in accordance with RenewableUK guidelines for those working in the renewable energy industry, such as on wind turbines.

Mantoux Skin Testing (TB Screening)

The Mantoux test or also known as Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) and Mendel–Mantoux test, is a tool for screening for tuberculosis (TB) amongst other indications. It requires two visits to Mungret Medical Centre, first to administer the tuberculin and then to read it 48 hours to 72 hours later.

QuantiFERON Testing (TB Screening)

QuantiFERON testing is a set of blood tests, taken at one visit, often required for educational and work placements. Similar to the Mantoux text there are several indications for QuantiFERON testing, and the test itself should be considered with other investigations and symptoms.

Vision Screening

A comprehensive screening programme can provide a general overview of employee’s visual disorders, detecting those where corrective action should be taken. Vision screening tests are a means of identifying individuals with defective vision who need a full eyesight test.‍

Executive Health Check

Reducing the likelihood of future adverse healthcare events includes both occupational and general lifestyle considerations. Mungret Medical Centre offers a variety of holistic health checks which can be tailored to individual health needs.

Vaccination Programmes

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2
